Long road trip this past weekend up the coast highway through Big Sur, tight left hand turn, coming in to hot I made the apex and put the power on to straighten up and stay in my lane, the rear hit the double yellow and lit up. Came of the yellow and the tire found traction, crap did that bike try to straighten up. I thought it was going to be a highside.
Had to pull over, have a smoke and try and unpucker.

I know they make anti slip epoxy paint because I have it on the deck of my boat. Why they can't use it for road striping is beyond me.

On the other hand this is not the first time I have done this, maybe it's time to slow the f##k down.

Dave I wish I was a kid, but I'm so close to sixty I can see it coming over the next rise in the road.

You're like the rest of us (well a lot of us) ... I turn into a teenage twat as soon as I put my lid on. I try riding sensibly and it's all good for the most part then you see a nice stretch of road or an overtake opportunity and you're on it! It's why I continue to ride bikes. Keeps me feeling youthful ... ish!

Same here Swagger, I try, but with these bikes and the roads where I live it's hard.

I know that feeling. I stay away from paint as much as possible, but i DO recall once on a different bike coming to a turn hot and starting to go over the line in a blind mountain road turn. My fault for looking away. I haven't smoked for years but if i did i would have put 1/2 a pack away after that. Glad you made it thru. Good thing about incidents like that is there's nothing else near as good to remind you to be more careful. I always thought that every time something like that happens you become a safer rider. Fear is a great teacher !

Funny thing about that corner, Over the years I have witnessed Harley Baggers lose it when they drag their bags, pipes, foot pegs and all sorts of other sh#t they bolt on those things. And I've thought to myself you bunch of Dumbasses, and I was nearly one of them.

had that happen once, and also once with a tar snake on a hot day, no question its enough to test your heart. Glad it worked out for you. Likley they don't do it because of the cost, dosen't cost them anything if you go down i suppose. No logic behind it though.

Man, that was lucky!
I hate that road paint. They love to paint words on the road here in Southern California letting know there's a "signal ahead". The have one at the bottom of the hill from my house, on a curve. If I even so much as touch one of those letters, I can feel my back end move a good inch or two.
Thank God it never rains here.

Felt the pucker as I read that!...Our roads are bitumen/ashphalt/tar whatever you want to call it and the "STOP" signs and similar painted on the roads are in white paint and man they become real slippy in the rain!..good fun when you have to brake suddenly or turning while crossing over them!...bad enuff in a car! The wheel can lock up then grab as it comes off the paint...gotta be careful, dosnt matter if youre a young'un or approaching the hill!...shit still smells!

Yeah I know that feeling. I set of with the best intentions and half an hour later the adrenaline levels are up, and I'm riding the torque wave.
